I've got a double album of Bacharach hits and I love every epic, lush, melancholy, defiant, joyous, tear-stained one of them.

This new triple album features most of those unforgettable songs, by the likes of Donne Warwick, Dusty Springfield and Cilla Black. But with three CDs there's room for much more, lots of tracks I've never heard before or recall only dimly from the 60s and 70s.

Quality suffers, but only slightly, with many forgotten gems to be found alongside the bone fide classics.

There are also some interesting modern interpretations from the likes of Will Young and Elvis Costello.
