The drummer from top rock band Embrace is passing on his skills to young Keighley musicians.
Mike Heaton spends a day each month working with bands at Dalton Lane rehearsal studio Jam on Top.
He passes on his knowledge of the music business as well as tips on songwriting, recording and promotion.
Mike last month worked with local bands Minus Jack, Meet Me in Vegas and Marmozets.
He will return to Keighley on February 22 for the last masterclass of the current season.
With Embrace Mike spent several years touring the world, playing to sell-out crowds and releasing number-one albums.
Now he is a musical development officer with that Bradford Council, working with bands across the district.
He said: "It's a way of handing over by knowledge of the industry, helping bands get started and giving practical support.
"You get a bit jaded when you've been in the music business for years, but working with young bands as rewarding.
Mike said that playing in a band was more than just rock 'n' roll, and helped develop life skills.
He said: "Teamwork, confidence building, discipline and motivation go hand-in-hand with working together as a band."
Jam on Top of an last year in an old factory and provides rehearsal space for more than 30 bands each week.
As well as many local groups -- playing styles from heavy metal and techno to jazz and blues -- it regularly attracts musicians from as far afield as Wakefield, Grassington and York.
