Movie soundtracks are usually below par offerings consisting of incidental music or compilations that seem ever increasingly to be made up of Eighties songs – following on from the trend set by The Wedding Singer.
Taking Woodstock has the advantage to be based upon the happenings of the legendary Hippy Festival of 1969, long before the likes of Spandau Ballet were talking about things being True or Gold.
There are four pieces of incidental music that wouldn’t be missed were they not included but in between we have the likes of Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Canned Heat, and the Goddess that was Janis Joplin reliving the Summer of Love. Almost makes you wish you’d been there or at least gone to see the movie.
