Two local children have a won parts in a stage version of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Edward Denby and Lucy Ward are among 24 youngsters appearing in the children's classic in Halifax.

Edward, from Oxenhope, will play Edmund, one of the four leading roles in the professional production.

The youngsters travel from wartime England to the magical land of Narnia through magic wardrobe.

They help the enchanted inhabitants, including courageous lion Aslan, take on the evil Snow Queen.

Lucy, from Harden and Edward, who both attend Parkside School in Cullingworth, were chosen from more than 250 who auditioned with Proper Job Theatre Company.

The play will be performed for 10 days up to Christmas Eve at the Square Chapel theatre in Halifax.
