Pantos, puppets and West End songs make up a packed first week of December.

Sutton Amateurs perform their annual pantomime while Pinnacle Productions stage their second.

Glusburn Institute hosts a concert of West End and folk songs following a children's puppet show.

Mother Hubbard is this year's family pantomime from Sutton Amateurs in Sutton Village Hall.

A new story has been wrapped around the famous nursery rhyme about a woman not being able to find her poor doggy a bone.

Mother Hubbard is one of the penniless villagers due to be thrown out by the wicked Sir Mortimer.

Her son Robin sets off on a quest to find treasure, aided by fairies, ramblers and his sweetheart Melinda.

There's adventure, romance, comedy, songs and dances from next Wednesday to Saturday at 7.15pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.

Tickets cost £6 (£5 concessions) from Londis Stores, Main Street, Sutton, or phone 01535 632289.

Pinnacle Productions of Cowling follow the success of their first pantomime last year with Hansel and Gretel.

In the poverty-stricken village of Merryacre the inhabitants eagerly await the arrival of Prince Goodheart with supplies of food.

Around the village is a spooky forest, where the wicked witch entices Hansel and Gretel to her home made of sweets and chocolate.

She captures the children but is foiled in her plot by some clever trickery, with good conquering evil and the Prince finding romance.

Hansel and Gretel is performed at St Andrew's Church Hall on December 4 and 5 at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm matinee on the Saturday.

Tickets cost £7 (£5 concessions) from Bains Village Shop in Cowling, Forget-Me-Not in Cross Hills, or by phoning 01535 634936.

West End Folk, at Glusburn Institute on December 5 at 7.30pm brings to contrasting styles of music together.

The concert features Lothersdale folk and country artist Ellie Gill and Sutton songs-from-the-shows specialist Nikki Barrett.

The show, which will raise money for local charities, is the brainchild of Keighley actor and director Steven Clark.

He said guitar-playing Ellie has an angelic voice, adding: "Ellie is a true amazing find. She brings a new dimension to the world of folk music."

Nikki Barrett began her performing career with Sutton Amateurs and Keighley Playhouse and now sings on cruise ships.

Steven said: "Nikki brings a true sense of West End showbiz to her performances, she is a wonderful performer.
