Haworth people will rock and roll into the teddy boy era for the 2010 People's Art project. For the project's fourth year organisers will ask villagers to adopt a 1950s theme for their pictures.

Residents can choose from a wide range of subjects as they prepare images for public display in the village.

Suggestions include Suez, de-mob, cool cows, industrialised Haworth, school meals, Brylcream, Elvis or black-and-white television.

Haworth artist Chris McCarthy, the People's Art secretary, said brushes and paints had already been delivered eight months before the event.

He said three village pubs had offered to stage themed events on launch day and a 1950s DJ had offered his services for free.

He said the two dozen of them could be funded because of the past three years 30,000 in event of could be funded without grants or handouts.

Mr McCarthy gave particular thanks to Haworth Parish Council for stepping in to cover last-minute costs during 2009's Wall of Art.

He said said: "We never cease to be amazed at the way this village pulls together to support us."
