Spring is here, the days are getting longer and thoughts of summer are in the air. It’s about this time of year when many of us working in the fitness industry see a big influx of clients wanting to get ready for summer. Regular and sustainable sessions are the best way to do it, gradually increasing when appropriate. Going from nothing to seven sessions a week really is inadvisable. But going from two to three or similar is manageable and won’t cause you a lot of problems.
However, that said, if you’re not exercising regularly you have to start somewhere. So this week I have a challenge for you all. If you’re not already doing so, start your ‘Get Fit for Summer’ exercise programme.
If you are, add some extra activity to your weekly routine.
As an incentive to get you all going, I want to hear from you about what you’re doing. It might be that you’re going to start some walking or enter the BigK 10K in aid of Manorlands, or even try out that class at the gym that looks really hard.
Whatever it is, it needs to be a challenge to you! When you let me know what it is you’ve done, also let me know why you’ve decided to start now, what your motivation is and how you plan to sustain your efforts.
Of everyone who replies, I will choose one reader to help out on a one-to-one basis.
