SPENCER Thelma Crawford (nee Ewan) On May 1 2020, peacefully at home in Settle, Thelma aged 89 years. Beloved wife of the late Alan, dearly loved mum of Gene and Peter, adored and loving nana of Emily and lucy, loved mother-in-law of Caroline and Sean. Due to current restrictions a private family funeral will take place. Donations in Thelma's memory can be made to Macmillan Cancer Support. I never met Thelma Spencer face-to-face: we were correspondents over the span of a decade or so. She and my father Mike Sr. were cousins, and exchanged Christmas letters for decades. When Mike Sr. asked for help researching family history, I was recruited and Thelma was patient and kind enough to help me along the way. In every exchange it was abundantly clear that she was very proud of her children and grandchildren – they always figured prominently and lovingly in her correspondence. I’ll miss exchanging news with her, and wish her family well from Canada.
