GOOCH Sheila It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs Sheila Gooch announce her passing on 2nd August 2024, aged 94. Sheila passed away peacefully at Springbank Care Home, Silsden, after a brief stay for end of life care. Much loved wife of the late Harry and adored mum of Alison and Helen. Cherished grandma and great grandma to Ben, Sam, Katie, Emma, Conor, Connie and Henry. Sheila taught swimming and P.E in the Ilkley area for many years and was a well thought of and much respected teacher. There will be a celebration of Sheila's life at St Margaret's Church, Queens Road, Ilkley on Friday 23rd August at 11.00am. All Welcome to attend. I remember her as a swim coach in the 70's,wonderful person.I just found out,condolences to the family,she touched a lot of hearts always smiling and encouraging,sad loss....

I learned to swim at Ilkley Grammar School in the 1970s thanks to Mrs Gooch. Have been forever grateful, and a lot of people will owe her a debt of gratitude. Very sorry to hear of her passing. Deepest condolences to the family.
