The jury in the trial of two men accused of drugging and raping underage girls they picked up in the street will today consider its verdicts.

The panel, down to ten members - eight men and two women - began its deliberations at Bradford Crown Court yesterday morning.

At 4.15pm, Judge Jonathan Rose sent the jurors home until 10am, telling them to “put the case out of their minds” overnight.

Shazad Rehman, 30, and Bilal Hussain, 23, cruised the streets of Keighley and Halifax seeking out vulnerable young girls to take back to hotels and a house, it is alleged.

Known to their alleged victims as Yaz and Naz, the pair are accused of plying girls with strong drink and cannabis before raping and assaulting them.

One 14-year-old girl suffered multiple rapes at the hands of both men, prosecutor Michelle Colburn QC told the jury.

Rehman, of no fixed address, is said to have boasted the teenagers were "fresh meat".

He and Hussain, of Neville Road Avenue, Leeds, are accused of pursuing girls in 2010 and 2011, mainly in the Keighley area.

"They acted together, travelling from their various home addresses in Leeds and Halifax to Keighley town centre where they specifically targeted vulnerable girls, all under age, " Miss Colborne alleged.

The men are said to have given the girls vodka, whisky and cannabis to render them more compliant.

Miss Colborne told the jury the girls were needy, with difficulties at home and school and seeking attention.

They were told they "would have fun and that they were special".

Girls were taken to the Campanile Hotel in Roysdale Way on the Euroway industrial estate in Bradford and the Alder House Hotel at Batley, Miss Colborne said.

Some went missing from home for days.

It is claimed that three girls were raped and one sexually molested.

One was so drunk she crawled round on her hands and knees. Another was so incapable that a cannabis joint was rolled on her back, it is alleged.

Rehman pleads not guilty to rape and sexual assault.

Hussain denies rape and common assault.

Both men deny supplying cannabis to underage girls.

Rehman, Hussain and Yassar Adalat, 31, of Milton Place, Halifax, plead not guilty to witness intimidation.
