A 48-year-old woman stole a £15 bottle of vodka from the Co-op in Cross Hills during a trip out with friends from Bradford, Skipton magistrates were told.

Yvonne Lees was with her daughter and two other women on their way to Silsden to a hairdressers on February 7 with the intention of hiring a chair, the court heard on Friday.

After taking the wrong turn off the roundabout, they ended up in Cross Hills, where they went into the Main Street Co-op, the court heard.

Lees was arrested after she was recognised from the store’s CCTV cameras. Her daughter received a caution for theft, but Lees was charged because of an earlier caution, the court was told.

Lees, of Prescott Terrace in Bradford, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation of £15 to the store. She was also ordered to pay £85 costs.
