A Haworth mum said her student daughter was left “heartbroken” after her efforts were allegedly ignored at a presentation evening.
Cath Bacon and her daughter, April Stephens, attended the event after the 17-year-old finished a cabin crew course at International Food & Travel Studio (IFT) in Bradford.
But what should have been a night of celebration for April quickly turned to disappointment.
Mrs Bacon, of Mill Hey, said: “The ceremony ended without a word about April’s subject.
“This despite the college advertising in cinemas and on buses using the cabin crew students as role models for future students.
“To see their efforts go completely unmentioned was heartbreaking.”
IFT director, Jean Watt, said: “We’re taking this complaint seriously – governors will be responding to Ms Bacon accordingly.
“Since the presentation evening, we are pleased to confirm all cabin crew students have successfully completed the course, and recognition of this has been made by the Studio School, with a more formal presentation taking place at the start of the next academic year.”
April began the course last September after the college promoted specialist training in a partial plane fuselage attached to its premises, along with a partnership link with airline Jet2.
But Mrs Bacon said: “When the course started, the plane had yet to arrive – a starting hiccup, we thought. Then, part-way through the year, the students were without iPads and internet access. Nevertheless, they worked very hard to bring their work up-to-date.
“I arrived with my daughter at the presentations excited to see whether she’d gained a nomination or even an award.
“But my daughter and her friend were completely left out of the proceedings. I’m utterly appalled and disgusted.”
Ms Watt responded: “The Inter-national Food & Travel Studio has just completed its first year of operation. The studio was established very quickly after government approval to enter into a funding agreement in July 2012.
“During the course of the year, our facilities have been enhanced with the addition of an aeroplane fuselage, installed within eight weeks of opening, iPads for all students and paid work experience for many thanks to great support from employers.
“We are extremely proud of all of our students, and we look forward to guiding them and our future cohorts through their studies during the coming academic years.”
