An irresistible selection of ten cakes ensured members of a new group enjoyed a mouth-watering inaugural event.

The first meeting of the Keighley district branch of the Clandestine Cake Club took place at Cobbles and Clay Cafe in Haworth’s Main Street.

People who get involved in the group are simply asked to make a cake based on a particular theme, then turn up to share their creation with other members who also take along their own culinary creations.

The Keighley group was set up by Goose Eye resident and Keighley News columnist, Michelle Crowther, 31. “The event was a success,” she said. “We tasted all the cakes, drank tea, chatted and at the end, all took pieces of each other’s cake home.

“The great thing about the club is there is no judging or competition. It is simply just a gathering of bakers sharing their homemade creations.

“Our next meeting is on September 15 and the theme for that is ‘colours’.” E-mail m_crowther-@ymail.com for further information.
