Volunteers joined forces with agencies to carry out a clean-up at Guard House.
The teams targeted the ‘Tip Top’ site in North Dean Road, and residents of all ages from across the estate took part, clearing litter and the remnants of fires.
Among those providing support were Incommunities Housing and Estate Services, Bradford Council area co-ordinator’s office, community development worker Pip Gibson and Councillor Jan Smithies. Grass at the site had been cut the previous week.
Alex Brown, who lives locally and chairs the Bradford District Tenants and Residents Federation, said: “It was really good to see the community come together with agencies to bring this area back into use, so that children have somewhere other than the road to play.
“The challenge is to get the Council’s asset management department, which owns the land, to maintain it.”
