Keighley district residents seeking outdoor relaxation can take advantage of two attractions that have been named among the UK’s best parks and green spaces.
Haworth Central Park and St Ives Estate, in Harden, have both received a prestigious Green Flag Award.
The scheme is run by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government. It is the benchmark national standard for UK parks and public green spaces.
Gillian Hill, chairman of the Friends of Haworth Park group, said: “We’re pleased to hear we’ve retained the flag for another year.”
Pam Laking, chairman of the Friends of St Ives, said: “We’ve put in a lot of effort during the past year, and have been working hard on our history garden, which is open to the public.
“Our visitors’ centre opened last October, and during the past year we’ve seen a big increase in visitor numbers.”
