Pupils at South Craven School showed off their technological know-how by sweeping the board at a competition staged at Yorkshire Air Museum.
Year eight teams won first, second and third prizes in the IET Hydro Challenge contest. Pupils used working models, displays and photos to show how to generate electricity using flowing water.
Winners were the ‘Hydro Genies’ team, comprising Lucy Calvert, Alex Drewitt, Lois Fitzsimmonds and Taine Lightfoot. They developed their winning ideas in school technology lessons, as well as at lunchtimes and after-school sessions.
Runners-up were the ‘Water Spinners’ team, made up of Beth Dyson, Lewis Fowler, Catherine Gregory and Abi Holmes. Third place went to another South Craven team called ‘Southy’s Arc’, which included Zoe Devynick, Harriet Mason, Ellie Phillips and Madison Walker.
