A trust established by the family of a former Keighley school pupil who died while on holiday received a boost from an evening at Holy Family Catholic School.
Three hundred people attended the Pilgrimages Reunion night in the school hall, organised by staff members Nick Eyes and Patrick Moran.
A raffle during the evening raised cash for the Rosie Tarpy Trust, which helps relatives of people who die when they are abroad. Rosie, an ex student of Holy Family, died suddenly of natural causes in 2011 while in the Canary Islands. She was 22 years old.
Her sisters – Emily and Jessica Harrison – both spoke at the reunion night, explaining what the trust does.
The evening also celebrated the success of two pilgrimages carried out earlier this year by Holy Family staff, pupils and people from the wider community. One of these trips was to Mount Croagh Patrick in western Ireland, and the other to Lourdes in southern France.
Guests watched DVD film footage of the pilgrimages and also enjoyed some live music. Mr Eyes said: “It was a lovely evening, and it really embodied the community spirit of Keighley.”
