Keighley is blooming lovely!
That’s the verdict of the Keighley in Bloom Partner-ship, which has praised businesses and others who have helped make the town look its best.
About 40 companies took up the offer of subsidised hanging baskets.
“The displays look lovely this year and it’s great business people are contributing to the feel-good factor that this creates,” said Keighley in Bloom vice-chairman and treasurer, David Petyt.
“You go to Town Hall Square and that looks gorgeous. It makes everyone feel better when the floral displays around the town are so good.”
Yorkshire in Bloom judges visited Keighley early last month, when they toured locations in the town and eight other sites entered in various categories. The results will be announced in September.
Judging has just been carried out for Keighley in Bloom’s best-kept garden competition, which attracted about 50 entries.
But Mr Petyt said there were concerns for next year, when funding is likely to be cut.
The partnership receives funds from sources including Bradford Council, Keighley Town Council, companies and individuals.
“We would like to hear from anyone interested in offering sponsorship in 2014,” added Mr Petyt.
