A Steeton hotel is threatened with closure, it has been revealed this week.
Owners of Steeton Hall Hotel in Station Road have announced its future is “under review”.
The premises have a temporary person in charge following the departure of its previous tenant.
Punch Taverns, which owns the hotel, declined to comment on the precise circumstances that led to the situation.
“There are a number of issues and we are still trying to get to the bottom of it ourselves,” said a spokesman.
“The hotel is operating at the moment and we are trying to keep it open.”
She said that while bookings for functions, such as weddings, in the next couple of months are being honoured, nothing was being booked for next year.
“We are currently reviewing the situation and exploring all options surrounding Steeton Hall,” she added.
“We are proactively contacting all of those people who have made bookings at the venue. We’re honouring weddings booked throughout September and October and refunding those who have chosen to make alternative arrangements, as well as those who made bookings for next year.”
