Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a boy in Cross Hills.
Officers say the 11-year-old was walking with a friend along Holme Lane, near South Craven School, when the incident occurred on July 24, between 6pm and 6.30pm.
They were passing a silver or white Ford Transit, with either tinted or taped-up windows, when a man in the van opened the side door and attempted to grab the 11-year-old, but the boys fled.
“I would urge parents and children to be vigilant,” said Sgt Paul Taylor.
“I would remind children to always tell their parents where they are going and at what time they will return. Never accept lifts from strangers and do not speak to people you do not know. If in doubt, scream and shout and make as much noise as possible.”
It is believed there were three occupants of the van.
