Police investigating the theft of a purse from an 80-year-old woman have released CCTV images of two suspects they want to speak to.
The purse contained about £400 in cash, as well as photographs, including one of the pensioner’s late husband.
The theft happened at Sains-bury’s supermarket in Keighley on July 20 at about 6.30pm.
The first suspect is described as white, aged between 14 and 17, stocky, and between 5ft 5in and 5ft 6in tall. He had a tanned complexion and had short, dark hair with shaved sides. He was wearing a blue and white thin-striped jumper, blue denim-look shorts, black shoes and white socks.
The second suspect was of similar age and height, but slim. He was wearing a dark zipped hoody with a white cord. He was also wearing grey jeans, black shoes and white socks.
PC Alex Alderson, of the Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “This was an extremely upsetting incident for the lady involved, who has not only lost a significant amount of cash, but also valuable photographs.
“We urge people to look after their purses and handbags when out shopping and never leave them unattended. Key chains and hidden purses are a cheap but effective way of preventing opportunist thieves from snatching your purse or keys from your person.”
Anyone with information about the two suspects is asked to contact PC Alex Alderson at Keighley NPT on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
