A man who burgled £10,000 of computers from a Keighley company and drove dangerously for the third time while on bail has been jailed for 23 months

Dean Ryan, 26, of Tyne Street in Parkwood, believed the law did not apply to him, Judge Jonathan Rose told him.

Ryan pleaded guilty to burgling the computers from Creative and Marketing in Dalton Mills, Keighley, on September 16 and stealing lead from the roof.

He was bailed and, on November 24, police spotted him driving when he was banned.

He was pursued down narrow streets and along the Keighley to Halifax road but he escaped after cutting onto an unmade road.

He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and having no insurance.

It was his third conviction for driving dangerously, the court heard.

His barrister, Andrew Kershaw, said Ryan was in employment and planning to marry next year. The burglary was out of character and others played a greater role, the court heard. No one was hurt during the chase.

But Judge Rose told Ryan: “You have shown, over the years, a willingness to disregard the law.”
