A church closed last December due to a dwindling congregation could be converted into a house.
Hawksbridge Baptist Chapel in Oxenhope shut after numbers attending the monthly services plummeted to about half a dozen.
Now a planning application has been submitted to Bradford Council to transform the building to a single dwelling.
Hazel Holmes, 82, lives close to the church and has worshipped there all her life since attending Sunday school as a child, “It was very sad when it closed but we knew it couldn’t continue with so few people,” she said.
“The building is now being sold, and it will be nice to see it brought back into use.”
The church was built in 1914, and in its heyday was packed for regular services.
