The “812” Bronte Scenic Bus Tour will operate on all Sundays and Bank Holidays until August 26. They are dovetailed to coincide with the arrival of the Keighley and Worth Valley trains at Haworth Station. The buses leave Haworth station at 10.50am, 11.45am, 12.40pm, 2pm, 2.55pm and 3.45pm, travelling to The Parsonage, Stanbury, Ponden, Scar Top, Moore Lodge, back to Ponden, Penistone Hill, Marsh Chapel, Sun Street and back to Haworth Station, where again it coincides, with time to transfer, with trains departing for Keighley.

West Lane Methodist Church’s congregation are gearing up for the 30th anniversary mini market on August Bank Holiday Monday. The events were begun to help raise funds towards the church’s share of circuit expenses. This month’s event will include hot lunches such as sausage and mash and bacon sandwiches and a variety of stalls from books to lucky dip with a prize every time. Admission will be free though donations are always welcome.

The Airedale Male Voice choir will be giving a concert at Scar Top Chapel at 7.30 on Saturday, August 24.

The Haworth & Oxenhope District Bridleways Group’s next meeting on Tuesday will take the form of a quiz and table-top sale. Other forthcoming events include the annual show on Sunday, August 25 at High Laithe Livery Stables, Oxenhope, the final dressage competition on Sunday, September 8 at Lilyhall Livery Stables, Haworth (when the tests will be Intro A, P12, P18 and N28) and an organised ride on Sunday, September 29. Meetings are held at the Old White Lion, Haworth at 8pm, preceded by a junior meeting at 6.45pm. Stanbury and District WI have recently enjoyed two visits to stately homes in beautiful weather, Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire and Newby Hall in North Yorkshire with its wonderful gardens. Occasionally, members visit local restaurants for a meal out and last week they had a lovely time at the Craven Heifer near Skipton. Nominations will be taken for the officers and committee which will be decided at the AGM in September.

The Worth Valley Horticultural Society’s late flower and vegetable show will this year focus on chrysanthemums, dahlias, pot plants, fruit and vegetables. It will be held at Haworth Community Centre, Butt Lane, on Sunday, September 29 from 2-4.15pm. Entries will be taken until 11am on the show day. This week the Worth Valley Young Farmers hosted their version of The Ashes, and invited the other young farmers’ clubs from the Craven district to come play rounders. Members from Upper Wharfedale, Silsden with Skipton and Lothersdale attended, with Lothersdale eventually winning overall.
