Amazed by a performance of The Lion King when she saw it in Manchester, Cowling Primary School teacher Emma Pease decided to produce the blockbuster musical at the parish church with 37 youngsters from the village school as their end-of-term performance.
“I was amazed by the show in Manchester and thought it would be suitable for the children and where we would be putting in on.”
The church has been used for classes during the past six weeks while work was carried out on the school hall.
“I wanted to keep it simple. We have used animal masks and there are a lot of songs that sound really good in the church,” said Emma.
The musical was performed on two afternoons before the end of term.
April Townsend, Freya Holbrey, Eleanor Briggs, Ryys Jones, Millie Beresford and Jodi Town-Jones are pictured during dress rehearsals.
