Keighley councillor Jan Smithies has run for election in the past... but now she’s running for charity!
She has signed up for a fun run to support disabled athletes through the Lord Mayor of Bradford’s Appeal.
The 3km and 5km races next month will raise money for Bradford Disability Sports and Leisure (BDSL), one of the chosen charities of Lord Mayor and Keighley councillor Khadim Hussain.
Jan, who represents Keighley West ward on Bradford Council, will run alongside long-time BDSL athlete Stephen Thorne.
Jan said: “I used to do a fair bit of running but I’ve never done a sponsored race.
“I got a hip injury a while ago so this will be my return to running. My aim is simply to finish!”
The fun run will be at at the Marley sports track on September 14, with registration at 10am.
Contact Steve Farley or Andrea Lane via bsr3@btconnect.com or on (01274) 437093 to enter the run.
