A Cross Roads-based charity successfully introduced two orphaned kittens to a mother cat after she lost most of her own offspring.
Hattie, who is being cared for by Yorkshire Cat Rescue, still had one kitten of her own, called Nemo.
But she took responsibility for feeding two other orphaned kittens (above) from completely different litters – Peter and Patrick. They have now been re-homed, but Hattie is still waiting to find a loving owner.
Charity founder, Sara Atkinson, said: “By nature, cats are caring and family-orientated, with mums regularly accepting orphan kittens as part of their own litter.
“But Hattie really gets the award for super mum of the year.
“We’re seeing a lot of young mums waiting for their new home for a considerable amount of time, long after their kittens are gone. After everything Hattie has done, we desperately feel she is the one who deserves to be given some love and affection now.”
