Keighley’s frighteningly high level of poverty has been well spotlighted in recent times.
As readers will be aware through stories that have been carried in this newspaper, the town’s Salvation Army is experiencing unprecedented demand for its services as more and more struggling families and individuals are in desperate need of food parcels or hot meals.
Patrick and Liz McDonnell, of Living Lights Christian Outreach, run a mobile food bank and outreach service, distributing emergency food bags and bedding.
It is heart-warming Keighley has so many caring people who are willing to give time, and in some cases money, to assist those less fortunate themselves.
Let us hope all those devoted to the cause can work effectively alongside each other and together help ease the burden for those who are struggling.
