The Tarn is a beauty spot that is used by hundreds of people each day for bird spotting, walking or running around the path.
Kids and dads sail boats and anglers love to fish. Lots of people have their food and drink sat on the picnic tables or in their cars. Dog owners walk their dogs, and may I say it is only a very small percentage of irresponsible dog owners who don’t clean up their pets’ poo. We still have hundreds of pedestrians who risk the 500 yards walking on the road because of the lack of a safe footpath. Last September, a young woman lost her leg in a accident while out jogging. I urge the powers-that-be to lay a footpath as soon as possible before we have a fatal accident.
Come on Bradford Council, do the right thing and give £3,500 towards the £5,000 cost to pay for a footpath. KTC has offered to give £1,500, but Bradford can’t help because it only has money for a road up in Oxenhope that only has ten houses on it .
£45,000 to resurface one road? I don’t know, but maybe this road is a death trap, and used as a race track by idiots and irresponsible drivers. Maybe people have lost limbs on the road?
I am sad there has been no response from the public of Keighley to help by giving a pound. I have £50 to start the ball rolling, and I have a mate who will donate £100 if the public also helps. Come on you families who walk up to the Tarn with your children, let us show Bradford where to put their money. Don’t let us have another bad accident because of £5,000 for a path for the safety and pleasure of walking to the beauty spot. It is no joke having to jump into the grass verge every time a car approaches. Walkers can’t relax or enjoy the walk or run up to the Tarn.
I would like to thank all the people who are trying to make Bradford see sense.
Harry Plunkett Shann Avenue Keighley.
P.S. Last weekend, the road to the Tarn was resurfaced. It is a pity they could not have extended a couple of foot towards the side that needs a footpath.
