Keighley district residents have been asked to contribute to a project designed to create a visual and oral history of the lives of people with learning disabilities.
Bradford Talking Media Learning Disability History Project is supported by the Lottery Heritage Fund, and covers both Keighley and Bradford.
Project co-ordinator, David Hargrave, said: “We will have a series of interviews where people with a range of learning disabilities can tell the story of their lives, recounting memories and experiences of how support for them has changed over the years.
“We’ve set up a series of sessions in Keighley and Bradford where everyone can come and meet each other.
“These sessions are open to anyone involved in the learning disability community, as we wish to get the fullest account of how times have changed during the past 50 years.”
The first meeting is at Keighley Healthy Living, from 5pm to 7pm on September 2. Sessions there will continue at the same time on the first Monday of every month.
Mr Hargrave added: “We will be recruiting volunteers to take part in the creation of the video.”
