A cricket match and family fun day may have raised as much as £1,000 to support the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Sunday’s events, hosted by Haworth Cricket Club, were organised by member Simon Perryman, whose father, Kevin, died from the disease four years ago.

Simon, who lives in Haincliffe Road, Keighley, was helped by family and club members, particularly sister Della and teammates Damien Rowell and Karl Brown.

Della said the charity had helped her family after her father was diagnosed so they had wanted to give something back.

Della, who lives in Haworth, said: “It’s gone really well – better than expected.

“We were overwhelmed by the support we were given and we’d especially like to thank Haworth Cricket Club, which donated proceeds from bar sales.

“We’ve done an initial count and that has come to £750 but there’s more money still to come in. By the time that’s added we should hopefully have about £1,000.”

The day also featured a bouncy castle, barbecue and raffle.
