You can’t lick the students of South Craven School when it comes to maths exams.

Teacher, Lisa Woods, gave chocolate lollies to her students showing the grades they had received in their GCSE exams.

Lisa said: “I had to make 66 cake pops because I didn’t know what grades they’d have until results day.”

Among Lisa’s students were Hannah Ingham, from Glusburn, who gained eight GCSEs, mostly at A grade.

She said: “I’ve done better than I expected. I didn’t know I’d get an A* in maths.”

Hannah’s friend, Natasha Singh, of Cross Hills, was impressed with her haul of seven GCSEs, especially with her English and performing arts grades.

Callum Dolphin, from Silsden, was described as a “superstar” by one of his teachers for gaining four A*s and seven As at GCSE.

The fantastic results were all the more impressive because Callum started South Craven School at a level lower than some of his peers.

He said: “I wasn’t really academic, and I messed around in my old school. I thought I’d try harder this time, but I didn’t think I’d do this well.”

Will Blackie, of Sutton, was particularly pleased to gain a distinction in performing arts.

Will plans to take a BTEC in performance studies, communications and culture, and hopes eventually to perform professionally in musical theatre.

Robyn Murray, of Lothersdale, passed ten GCSEs, gaining an A and several Bs, and was particularly pleased with her English score.

She said: “I’m definitely staying at South Craven but I don’t know what I want to do afterwards.”

Naomi Darling, of Cowling, who gained ten A*s and a B, said: “I revised a lot so I would have been very annoyed if I hadn’t done well.”

Caitlin Hall, from Sutton, said she was “really happy” to have gained two As, five Bs and two Cs.

Josh Dobson, from Cowling, passed ten GCSEs with mostly As, while Jamie Coward gained six A*s, three As and a B.

Miriam Budimir gained two A*s, seven As and a BTEC, and plans to go into the South Craven sixth form.
