I am writing to highlight the tremendous work the Intouch Group is doing in Keighley every Wednesday evening.
Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with the group behind the project. They prepare and give food to our district’s residents who may otherwise go without food.
It was a humbling experience to see this project in operation, and I send my heartfelt thanks to these people giving their time. It deeply saddens me this service is needed in Britain today.
We cannot call ourselves a civilised country where its people cannot afford basic essentials, such as food.
Under the Conservative and Liberal Democrat government, food banks and food kitchen services cannot keep up with the need/demand placed upon them.
The current government fails to understand the often desperate consequences of what may seem like small cuts to the incomes of people already living close to poverty.
Please continue to support these needy services.
Councillor Adrian Farley Keighley West
