Airedale has been rated one of the top hospitals in the country for involving cancer patients in their care.
An NHS England survey also showed almost eight out of ten patients – 78 per cent – described their care as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’. The figure, which compares to seven out of ten the previous year, puts Airedale Hospital among the country’s top 20 per cent.
The survey was part of the National Cancer Patient Experience Programme, which examines adult cancer services provided by 155 acute hospitals.
Airedale – where 304 patients took part – scored highly in a number of categories, from provision of care and patient involvement to the information given by medical staff.
Julie Livesey, lead cancer manager at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are very pleased with the results of this year’s survey.
“We will be studying the results and comments in detail, and working closely with all staff involved, to develop an action plan to help improve the patients’ and families’ experience.”
