An event to help people learn more about a condition that causes chronic swelling and discomfort is being held for Keighley district residents this month.
Healthcare professionals, patients and members of the public are urged to drop in to meet the lymphoedema team from Airedale Hospital, and find out about how the condition can be treated.
The event runs from 10.30am to 3pm on September 18 at the Great Victoria Hotel in Bradford.
Pat Gardner, lead lymphoedema nurse at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Raising awareness is vital, as some people can suffer for years before being referred for help and diagnosed correctly.
“Delays in treatment often have a detrimental physical and psychological effect on patients, causing them unnecessary pain, discomfort, anxiety and depression.”
Lymphoedema results in swelling in any part of the body, but is most commonly seen in the arms or legs. It can be triggered by pregnancy, trauma, surgery or cancer treatment.
Call 01535 292712, between 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday, for details.
