Keighley man Paul Kennedy has been appointed Assistant Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police.

Mr Kennedy (pictured), who joined the police in 1988, previously served with Cumbria Constabulary.

His responsibilities will include community policing and criminal investigation and operations.

Mr Kennedy said: “It is a privilege and an honour to join North Yorkshire Police as Assistant Chief Constable.

“From day one, I promise to do my absolute best to deliver a high-quality policing service to our communities. A service that is on hand around the clock to protect people from harm and bring criminals to justice, as well as a caring and supportive service that puts victims first when they need it most.”

Chief Constable Dave Jones said: “I am very pleased to have Paul in my Chief Officer Team, and I am confident his wealth of experience and qualities as a leader will greatly benefit North Yorkshire Police.”
