Silsden invites you to their monthly Coffee, Cakes and Camaraderie morning on Saturdayfrom 9.30-11.30am. All the stalls and raffles plus bacon sandwiches, home-made cakes and refreshments await.

The Ladies Circle autumn programme begins on Tuesday with a pamper night by local firms. The meetings are held monthly at Silsden Methodist Church at 7.30pm. Refreshments are served after the speaker. All very welcome.

The first meeting of the Civic Society 2013-14 season will take place in the Methodist Church tonight. Alan Humphrey will give an illustrated talk entitled Madeira – Island of Flowers. Doors open at 7pm and the talk starts at 7.30pm followed by refreshments at 8.30pm.

The next meeting of Silsden Amnesty Group will be on Monday at 7.30pm in Silsden Methodist Church, and this will be followed by the annual coffee morning on Saturday, September 14, again at the Methodist Church. You will be able to find out more about the work of the group and in particular the action they taking to help Filep Karma, a civil servant who was imprisoned for 15 years after raising a flag in support of Papuan independence. Add your voice to the campaign by signing a card.

The Friends of Airedale Hospital car boot sales are running twice a month now. That’s double the opportunity to buy and sell and help a good cause. Held in the west car park they will be held on the first and third Sundays of every month from April to September. Turn up on the day to buy and sell with free parking for shoppers.

Another car boot sale takes place at the riverside field in Keighley Road, Silsden, on Sunday. The 7am-1pm event includes on-site catering and toilets. Cars are £10, and vans and cars with trailers £15. Call (01535) 654747 for further details.
