A 98-year-old man was taken to Airedale Hospital this afternoon following an incident at a Keighley department store.
The man banged his head after his carer stumbled and lost grip of the wheelchair he was in on an escalator at Beales, in Hanover Street.
A fire crew was called to assist, and gave oxygen and first aid prior to the arrival of an ambulance.
“The chair had slipped part way up the escalator but someone pressed the emergency stop button,” said watch commander Andy Quinn, from Keighley fire station.
“The gentleman wasn’t seriously hurt but was taken to hospital for a check-up.”
The incident happened at around 2.30pm.
