Special Olympics athletes from Keighley will be invited to a civic reception at City Hall in Bradford.
The Lord Mayor of Bradford will host the event to honour the 27-strong Bradford squad's success in the recent national games.
The athletes, who have learning difficulties, brought back 31 medals from last month’s five-day tournament in Bath.
This is one of the biggest-ever hauls for a Special Olympics squad from Bradford Disability Sports & Leisure (BDSL).
The mayor, Keighley councillor Khadim Hussain, is supporting BDSL through this year’s Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
Coun Hussain said the Special Olympics squad – half of them from the Keighley area – had shown that everyone had strengths whatever their disability.
He said: “It’s a tremendous achievement and they are role models for all young people in the district."
Some of the district's top disabled athletes may now go on to compete in the World Special Olympics in 2015 in Los Angeles.
BDSL runs a wide variety of regular sports sessions across the district, most in the Keighley area, including Paralympics at University Academy Keighley.
The organisation is holding a fun run this Saturday (September 14) at Marley Sports Centre to raise money for its activities.
The civic reception is likely to be held on October 2.
