In response to Leo Robinson’s letter – Drastic measures have been forced on the government (Keighley News, August 29) – I would like to remind him it was the bankers who caused the problems, not the working people, and this Tory government allowed it.
To say the previous Labour government caused the problem tells me Leo Robinson is ill-informed, for a government that implements Tory policies to my mind is a Tory government, no matter what name they go under.
It is the Tory governments and the bankers (I will give Thatcher ‘the baby food snatcher’ a little mention) that caused all the problems, and yet again workers pay the price (even firemen). So much for Tory values, moral or family. I had to laugh, when he said in his letter, crime was down. At one time, there was very little crime in Britain. You could leave your doors and windows open, you could walk down the street, anytime, night or day; you could even go for a stroll in the park at any time. You cannot now. And Mr Leo Robinson claims we are safe. All the problems we have now started when Thatcher entered No 10.
If she didn’t close it down, she sold it off. That is why the workers have nothing, and the bankers and fat cats do what they want. Hence the trouble we are in now. It seems Mr Robinson is still stuck in a traffic jam admiring the hanging baskets. Just like a Tory, when there is trouble, put the rose-tinted glasses on and all will be well. My advice to Mr Leo Robinson is this. If you have a thinking cap, put it on and have a long think about the real truth about the mess our society is now in.
