A Keighley woman has paid tribute to the “compassion and support” shown following the death of her mother.
Mary Byrne, 51, was killed following a collision between two vehicles outside her home in April.
A memorial bench has been dedicated at a garden party at Cooper House care home, Buttershaw, where Mrs Byrne worked as a kitchen assistant.
Afterwards her eldest daughter Sam Rees, 33, said: “It was a lovely garden party and our family were made to feel very welcome.
“We want to thank everyone for the compassion and support they have shown us.”
The family collected more than £100 in a raffle to go towards funds they have already been collecting for BRAKE, a speed awareness charity that has been helping them. So far they have raised more than £500 and have plans for more events soon.
Mrs Byrne died metres from her front door when the private hire car she had just paid for in Horton Bank Top, Bradford, was involved in a collision with another car, which fatally injured her.
A 17-year-old youth and two men aged 19 and 21 were arrested after the incident and have since been released on bail while the investigation continues.
