Keighley people are being urged to attend a meeting highlighting the role of politicians in influencing food policies.

The free event will outline how MPs and the House of Lords hold the Government to account on issues such as food production and healthy eating.

Keighley community worker Shaun O’Hare, who is helping organise the session, said there were several great advocates of the Local Food agenda living in Keighley.

He said: “Residents throughout the district are showing an increased interest in food – its production, safety, consumption and concerns over links between the food we eat, the environment and our health.”

Mr O’Hare said the meeting was one of several planned by the Parliament Outreach Team to highlight parliament’s role in debating and challenging government policy.

Parliament Talks Food will be held at City Training Services, Chapel Street, Bradford, on October 4 from 11am to 3pm. Register to attend by contacting parliamentaryoutreach@parliament.uk.
