There is bingo on Tuesdays at the Dickie Bird starting at 8.30pm, a quiz and Strike It Lucky on Wednesdays from 9pm. A free supper will be served at both events.

On Sunday there will be services at St Barnabas’ Parish Church at 8am, holy communion and at 9.15am, parish communion. At Long Lee Methodist Chapel at 10.30am there will be holy communion led by the Rev Nigel Ogley.

This Saturday, the final game of the season Long Lee Cricket Clubs 2nd team will play Airedale 2nds away. At Golden View the 1st team will be playing Cowling.

Long Lee Cricket Clubs annual awards presentation dinner will be held at Bradford and Bingley RU club, Waggon Lane, Bingley, on Saturday, October 19 from 7pm. Tickets are £20. They can be obtained from club members.

Tickets are now available for the Airedale Male Voice Choir concert at Long Lee Chapel on Saturday, September 28. Tickets are £5, available from chapel members.

Keighley/Thwaites Brow Townswomen’s Guild on Saturday have a coffee morning in Long Lee Methodist Chapel from 10am-noon. There will be a cake stall, book stall, tombola, bring and buy, bric a brac and a raffle. Proceeds for Manorlands Sue Ryder hospice and Guild funds.

On Friday, September 27 Margaret Anstey will be hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning in St Barnabas’ Church hall from 9am-noon. There will be bring and buy and a raffle.

A week today Keighley Men’s Forum summer walkers will be led by David Smith on a walk in the Eldwick area. Meet at the usual time and place. The new season of meetings in Keighley Playhouse will commence on Thursday, October 3 at 10am.

The morning service at Long Lee Methodist Chapel on Sunday was led by the minister Tanya Short. Before the start of the baptism service Tanya spoke to the children about creation and illustrated it with various items which have been created. The baptism of Samuel George Graham then took place in front of a large congregation. The parents were presented with a lighted candle signifying The Light Of The World and a baptism certificate.

The Rev Canon Bruce Grainger was the celebrant at the sung parish communion at St Barnabas’ Parish Church. He preached on how being a Christian can be costly in terms of commitment to the welfare of all people. Readers were Carl Pybus, Billy Clayton and Jill Dodsworth. Intercessions were led by Margaret Anstey and Carl Pybus administered the chalice. Music provided by Bill Clayton on piano. The Rev Jonathan Pritchard led the parade and family service. Helen Salt and Jonathan developed the idea of creation and the coming of light with film, readings and thoughts about new beginnings. The uniformed organisations presented their colours. Jill Dodsworth accompanied the service on keyboard.
