A 22-year-old Riddlesden man who died on holiday in Magaluf has been described by one friend as “the best person you could imagine”.
Sam Hill died of head injuries after a fall last Wednesday although the Foreign Office has not confirmed any details.
The plumber, who worked at Mitton’s in Bradford, was at the resort on a holiday with a friend.
Since his death a Facebook page has been set up in his memory for friends to leave tributes and so far the page has been “liked” by more than 2,500 people.
Sam was a former pupil at St Anne’s Primary School and Holy Family Catholic School in Keighley.
He leaves behind his mum and dad Vanessa and Steve, brother Tom, and his girlfriend Jodie Corbett.
Jake Yaxley, one of Sam’s best friends, said his popularity was evident from the number of people who had left tributes since his death.
He described how he left a lasting impression on anyone who met him, and added: “He was honestly the best person you could imagine.
“He was so friendly with everyone and wherever he went he was the life and soul of the party.
“Nobody had a bad word to say about him. He was a lifelong Middlesbrough FC fan. He followed them all around the country and Europe. He is definitely going to be missed.”
Lawrence Bentley, head teacher at Holy Family School, said: “I did not have the privilege of knowing Sam but the staff who did remember him as a great kid who threw himself into school life and contributed significantly to the great spirit that his cohort had. The whole group are remembered as a pleasure to work with.”
The Facebook page includes tributes from dozens of Sam’s friends, many of whom used it to share their memories of him.
Thomas Sheppard said: “Top man, Sam. You will be missed.”
Laura Martin said: “I know from the time I spent with you that you were one of the most genuine, funny and down-to- earth people I’ve ever met.”
Joe Manning said: “Always had a smile on his face whenever I saw him. Rest in peace, mate.”
The Foreign Office said: “We are aware of the death of a British national on September 11 in Magaluf. We are providing consular assistance.”
