Rebecca Louise Sawley was hailed a miracle baby when she was born 13 weeks prematurely in 1985. She weighed less than a bag of sugar and had to spend three months at Airedale Hospital.
Last weekend Rebecca was married at St Luke’s Church in East Morton.
She and her new husband live in Cullingworth. Rebecca works at a finance company in Leeds.
She was born to her mother Jane at only 27 weeks and weighed 2lb.
Her twin, Alexandra, died after 18 days, and Rebecca had to be fed through a drip for five weeks. Rebecca’s parents were unable to hold her for her first 10 days and initially she needed a ventilator to help her breathe. She was so small only dolls’ clothes fitted her.
She was allowed to go home to Exley Head just before Christmas 1985.
The only concern in her first four years was a heart murmur, which righted itself.
The former Oakbank School student graduated from English and history at Leeds University and has been with Nick four years.
Rebecca said: “We went to school together and met in the sixth form.”
Jane, who now lives in Riddlesden, said: “Despite her difficult start in life Rebecca has grown into a beautiful, intelligent, young woman.”
