A man who damaged the door of his ex-partner’s home when he tried to force his way in has been ordered to pay £250 compensation.

Anthony Tavernier, 31, used his weight against the door of the flat in Old Institute, Mill Street, Sutton, splitting the frame, Skipton magistrates heard on Friday. Tavernier, of Hollybank Gardens, Bradford, who admitted criminal damage but questioned some of the evidence, was hopeful of a reconciliation with his partner, the court was told. He was fined £70 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20 as well as compensation to the landlord.
