The latest step in returning Keighley’s North Street to its original Victorian glory has been given the go-ahead.
Plans to restore the front of the Keighley Volunteer Bureau to its original state have been approved by Bradford Council.
The street is an important part of the town’s conservation area, and efforts are being made by the Bradford Council-led Keighley Townscape Initiative to improve the image of the road. The work will be carried out with help from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the council.
Council planning officer Alison French said: “Unfortunately many of the shop fronts have been crudely replaced over the years. This application will enhance this commercial frontage, with the likelihood of encouraging further neighbouring properties to reinstate matching shop fronts.”
