General manager Ian Russell said: “We’re very excited to back such a worthwhile cause by giving away a variety of cakes, some made by members of staff, for charitable contributions.”

And the Keighley branch of Specsavers is holding a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event for the charity. The opticians will host the event at its store in the Airedale Shopping Centre next Friday, September 27.

Staff will be on hand to offer guests tea, coffee and biscuits in exchange for donations.

Nigel Wilson, store director at Keighley Specsavers, said: ‘We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, so it’s important to support charities that do such fantastic work.”

Trinity Church at Fell Lane is also holding a coffee morning next Friday, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The 10.30am to noon event will feature homemade cakes, tea and coffee.
