Again we see some councillors making another attempt to fight a rearguard action against members of the public who have campaigned for transparency within Keighley Town Council.
Should theses councillors be asking themselves the real reason why the group Cave Town set themselves up, bearing in mind that these people are indeed parishioners, who incidentally pay for the council? Is it just convenient to single them out as anarchists, and other labels that the council has tried to make stick, on any of us who offer the slightest discontent with the ongoing financial losses at the civic centre, not withstanding a 72 per cent precept hike?
Of course people are aggrieved; many people who I come into contact with ask what the council is doing to stem the losses and reduce its deficit?
Perhaps instead of labelling parishioners, and insulting them an apology may be more in order.
It is fine to tell the public of all the good work the council does, but do councillors realise that this good work is nul and void until we have a firm financial plan to deal with the ongoing drain of public funds, and a promise of no further precept increases to bail out this loss- maker?
If this is not possible, put the centre on the market for sale.
