Keighley residents and businesses are being offered the opportunity to learn more about the Tour de France Grand Depart.

In the first of a series of events to keep people informed, there will be three sessions at Victoria Hall next Saturday, September 28, at 10am, 12.30pm and 3pm.

Councillor Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council’s executive member for environment, sport and sustainability, said: “This is a great opportunity for local people to find out what the Grand Depart will mean for themselves and the district.

“It will have a major impact and people need to understand how it will affect them on the day, how they can get involved if they wish and what kind of long-lasting legacy this will have.

“We need to make the most of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on our doorstep.”

Each session will be introduced by a Welcome to Yorkshire representative and information will be provided from Bradford Council about how the event is being managed. To register for the free event, visit eventbrite.co.uk, search for Tour de France, then type in the postcode BD21. Once booked on to a particular session, people will be able to print off an admission ticket.

People with no computer access can call 01274 432774 and leave their name, phone number, preferred session and tickets request.
